TAXES: Every cent counts to many
I really appreciate all The Press has articulated about being sensitive to the financially challenged members of our community. Most everyone in support of raising money for God-knows-what completely forgets about it. Nothing drives me crazier than when someone writes a letter in support of a new firehouse, levy, or something and says how it will only cost a few dollars a month. I like that The Press doesn't forget that for many in this community, a few dollars means a lot.
Even Ron Ouren's letter in support of KTEC uses as rationale that it will "only" cost $35 a year more for an average taxpayer. How insulting. Maybe to him $35 is chump change but to a senior on a fixed income, it could be groceries for a few days. I'm sure most of Ron's lunches exceed that.
Thanks for your concern. I applaud the editorial board.
