Time Warner Cable invites you to Oz

| August 17, 2010 8:31 AM

COEUR D’ ALENE – It is difficult to imagine a motion picture more magical and more magnificent than Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's The Wizard of Oz. Over the last seven decades, the film has indelibly woven itself into America’s  cultural consciousness: Is there anyone who doesn’t  immediately think of the film upon hearing the words, “Dorothy,” “Toto,” “Emerald City,” “Ruby Slippers” and “Yellow Brick Road” or the lines to the song “Over the Rainbow?”

This year’s Time Warner Cable free community movie event is being held Friday, August 20th in Coeur d’Alene’s City Park.  This event has become an August summer evening tradition for families and movie fans of all ages.  Movie in the Park is celebrating its 4th year as a community event favorite.  This event gives the community a unique opportunity to see The Wizard of Oz on the big screen in a beautiful outdoor setting.  A massive movie screen will be set up in front of the band shell which will provide perfect picture and sound to enhance the experience.

“As in years past, we are anticipating hundreds of people of all ages to attend this event with their blankets, lounge chairs, family and friends” said Jody Veeder, Area Marketing Manager for Time Warner Cable. “This movie screening has become a family tradition to many in North Idaho and Time Warner Cable is so happy to be able to give back to our community.”

The movie will begin at sunset, approximately 8:15pm.  The Wizard of Oz characters will make a special appearance in the park before the movie from 6:30pm – 8:00pm.  Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion will truly come to life for everyone to enjoy.  Everyone is welcome to meet this wonderful cast of characters and take pictures.
