Police investigating utility trailer thefts

| August 17, 2010 9:00 PM

POST FALLS - Post Falls Police is investigating the thefts of several utility trailers over the last few months.

The trailers have all been unsecured and located where anyone would have access to them.

The most recent theft occurred on East Seltice Way from the Kootenai County Fire Administration building.

An employee at the station saw the suspect vehicle and took a photo of the vehicle as it was leaving west on Seltice Way. The trailer was located the next morning parked on the street in a nearby neighborhood.

The suspect likely realized he had been seen and dumped the stolen trailer, police said.

The suspect vehicle is a gray 2000 to 2002 Chevy extended cab truck. The vehicle appears to have stock rims, chrome mirrors and the rear windows are tinted dark.

A suspect was arrested in Coeur d'Alene selling a stolen trailer, driving a pickup that matched the description. Detectives have interviewed the person. An investigation continues.
