Inez (Millsap) Flickinger, 92
Anchorage, Alaska, resident Inez (Millsap) Flickinger died Friday, Aug. 6, 2010, at 92 years of age.
She was born Oct. 3, 1917, to John and Mary Millsap in Spirit Lake. Inez's artistic talents were prevalent throughout everything she did. As a child she learned to play drums, piano and organ. She was also very active in her church and school. One of her proudest achievements was winning the Idaho State Speaking Championship as a teenager.
Inez met her first husband, Earl Stewart, while she was still in high school. They married in 1934. They welcomed two children into the world, a son, Kit and a daughter, Virginia. Her husband's piloting career moved the family all over the United States. In spite of their busy life, Inez found time to take up the art of ceramics, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Hours of love and effort produced many beautiful keepsakes for friends and family.
At age 44, Inez returned to school and earned a degree in accounting and worked in that field for 21 years. In 1953 she married Glenn Flickinger and they spent many happy years in California. After retiring they moved to Idaho for a time, and then on to Arizona where they resided until Glenn's death in 1981.
Inez remained a few more years in Arizona before moving back to her family roots in Post Falls. In 2004 she moved to Anchorage to be near her daughter and family. Her final years were spent enjoying family, church and especially her Sunday school class, known as the "Senior Saints."
Inez is survived by her two children, Cyrus Kit Stewart and Virginia Lee Kohfield; six of seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the Anchorage Baptist Temple in Anchorage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the children's bus ministry at Anchorage Baptist Temple, 6401 E. Northern Lights Boulevard, Anchorage, AK 99504. This ministry brought great delight to Inez, who loved to see the "little ones" able to attend church.
