POST FALLS - A Kootenai County resident reported that more than 200 guns were stolen from her Greensferry Road home on Friday.

Kootenai County sheriff's deputies were sorting through the details of the swiped stockpile but as of Monday, the first 16 of the rifles had been valued at nearly $60,000.

A U.S. Springfield field grade M1 rifle was valued at $50,000 alone.

The other weapons taken from 6413 S. Greensferry Road, west of Coeur d'Alene, were two Glock 19 pistols, one Doc Holiday pistol, and several Remington and Harvefter rifles. An Olympic Arms rifle, featuring stainless steel bull barrel, and a U.S. optic scope was also stolen.

"It's always a concern when we have missing weapons or stolen weapons," said Maj. Ben Wolfinger, of the sheriff's department, on the looted firearms.

The case is under investigation, Wolfinger said. It's the biggest weapons heist the department has seen.

"That's the most weapons stolen out of one burglary," he said.

The value of the lost goods will climb, as the female victim told deputies she would provide the department "the serial numbers to the other 200 weapons that were taken from her home," the incident report states.
