Police seek info on trailer thefts

| August 16, 2010 10:59 AM

Detectives with the Post Falls Police Department are investigating the thefts of several utility trailers over the last few months.

The trailers have all been unsecured and located where anyone would have access to them. The most recent theft occurred on E. Seltice Way from the Kootenai County Fire Administration building. An employee at the station saw the suspect vehicle and was able to take a photo of the vehicle as it was leaving, west on Seltice Way. The trailer was located the next morning parked on the street in a nearby neighborhood. The suspect very likely realized he had been seen and dumped the stolen trailer.

The suspect vehicle is a gray 2000-2002 Chevy extended cab truck. The vehicle appears to have stock rims, chrome mirrors and the rear windows are tinted very dark.

A suspect was arrested in Coeur d' Alene selling a stolen trailer, driving a pickup that matched this description. Detectives have interviewed this subject and the investigation continues.
