Borah to host registration celebration

| August 16, 2010 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - A "Registration Celebration" is scheduled Aug. 24 at Borah Elementary.

There will be a bounce castle, hot dogs, haircuts and more for Borah students from noon to 6 p.m. Backpacks and school supplies will be available. Teachers will also be on hand.

"We will have quite the party," said Becky Burke, volunteer coordinator.

More than 300 backpacks with supplies were given away during last year's registration celebration.

Organizers again hope to help out students and families prepare for this school year.

The school has about 375 students, and 75 percent receive free or reduced lunch.

"This means that many of our students live at or below the poverty line," according to a press release.

Anyone wishing to donate supplies can drop them off at the district office at 10th and Indiana, or Borah school, 632 Borah Ave.
