Indians fall in opener

KEIZER, Ore. — Mike Murray went 3 for 5 with two RBIs as the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes defeated the Spokane Indians 12-7 on Saturday in front of 3,163 at Volcanoes Stadium in Northwest League action.
Michael Olt hit a solo home run in the seventh and drove in three runs.
Kevin Torres was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Spokane (8-9).
Salem-Keizer (6-11), which went 11 for 20 with runners in scoring position, took an early 7-0 lead before Spokane rallied to within 8-6.
Carter Jurica and Daniel Burkhart each had two RBIs apiece for Salem-Keizer.
Roman Mendez allowed seven runs on nine hits to take the loss for Spokane.
The teams continue their five-game series today at 5:05.
