Post Falls standoff ends peacefully

POST FALLS - A woman who was reportedly suicidal and had threatened to harm her three small children was persuaded to surrender to police Friday afternoon.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that deputies responded to a Seltice Way home east of Post Falls to negotiate with the woman, who had been reported as suicidal by her mother.

After about an hour, the woman came out of the home and was taken into protective custody. The children, including a 5-month-old, were found safe in the house.

The woman's husband arrived home shortly before the situation was resolved and eventually was able to take custody of the children, the release said.
