PRIEST RIVER - Two area residents were flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane after the vehicle they were in was hit head-on by a driver attempting to turn left.

James E. Krizenesky, 82, of Priest River, was westbound on Highway 2 near milepost 3.9 in his 1996 Ford F-250 pickup when he attempted a left-hand turn into the Hat Creek Cattle Company. He failed to see an eastbound 2005 Kia Spectra driven by Francisco Magana III, 27, of Oldtown, and struck the vehicle head-on, according to Idaho State Police.

Both Magana and passenger, Zualita L. Magana, 44, of Ponderay, were flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where they were still in the emergency department.

Krizenesky was taken to Newport Community Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was cited for inattentive driving
