COEUR d'ALENE - The annual Community Children's Clothing Giveaway will be 8-11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 521 Lakeside Ave.

There will be used, but clean clothes that have been washed and sorted for infants, toddlers, teens and adults, including shoes, pants, coats, hats and gloves. It will be helpful for families in need of school clothes this year, organizers said.

The event generally attracts a large crowd, and a line usually forms early outside the church.

Those participating are given a plastic bag to fill with whatever they need. It is all free.

The church collects clothes throughout the year for the giveaway. Many are donated by its congregation.

The event is in its 27th year. It's now named after Barb McPoland, its long-time organizer who died last year. McPoland was a school teacher who saw that many students needed clothes, and oversaw the project.

"It was her passion," said volunteer Jean Rohlman.
