First Serve Cd'A set for today

COEUR d'ALENE - First Serve Coeur d'Alene, the Coeur d'Alene Tennis Association's annual kickoff to the local tennis season, is scheduled for today from 1-3 p.m. at the Cherry Hill Park courts.

Adults and youths of all ages are invited to come play, and instructors will be available.

Cd'A football meeting set for Wednesday

COEUR d'ALENE - A parent meeting for all those who have children who are planning to play football this fall at Coeur d'Alene High is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Information on summer camps, training and next season will be given.

NIC auction, banquet set tonight

COEUR d'ALENE - This year's North Idaho College Booster Club's annual spring auction and awards banquet will include the announcement of the 2009-2010 athletic award recipients tonight in the Edminster Student Union Building Ts'elusm Dining Room.

The women's nominees for Scholar-Athlete of the Year are volleyball player Hannah Thompson from Nikiski, Alaska; basketball player Mariana Lamperti from Brazil; softball player Lauren Maloney from Las Vegas; soccer player Lindsey Armstrong from Spokane; cheerleader Whitney Hurt from Twin Lakes; and golfer Amanda Wemple from Coeur d'Alene.

The men's nominees for Scholar-Athlete of the Year are basketball player Taylor Stevens from Seattle; soccer player Johnny Mueller from Post Falls; wrestler McKray Jones from Bellingham, Wash.; and golfer Jeff Marfice from Lincoln, Neb.

The women's nominees for Athlete of the Year are volleyball player Marketa Hanzlova from Czech Republic; basketball player Tugce Canitez from Turkey; softball player Amanda Krier from Coeur d'Alene; soccer player Brittany Cook from Meridian; and golfer Ashley Burke from Sandpoint.

The men's nominees for Athlete of the Year are soccer player Orlando Figueroa from Boise; basketball player Michael Hale from Seattle; wrestler Kamron Jackson from Southhaven, Mich.; and golfer Branden Dalton from Fernley, Nev.

The NIC Athletics Department and Booster Club Hall of Fame Induction, Awards Banquet and Auction will begin with a social and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The event will also feature the induction of this year's class of NIC Athletics Hall of Fame inductees and a live and silent auction.

Tickets are $25 per person.
