VOTER ID: Makes perfect sense

| April 23, 2010 10:00 PM

This letter is in response to the CDA Press 3-30-10 issue, front page article, regarding the League of Women Voters seeking a veto of the bill going before the Governor, re: Picture I.D.’s.

Bonnie Douglas, vice president of the League of Women Voters stated, “Photo I.D. requirements are one of the most serious threats to our efforts to ensure the right of every eligible American to vote.” That is, beyond a doubt, the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I ask you, where in the hell has this woman been living the past 40 years, in a cocoon?

You need a drivers license to drive a car, you need a picture ID to fly or go on a ship, you need a passport to go into Canada or Mexico. You need a picture ID to make a major purchase on a credit card. Probably 98 percent or more of those eligible to vote have picture ID’s.  Don’t most people drive to their polling place?

I am 72 years old and have lived in seven different states. I have voted in all elections I was eligible for, and I always had to show a drivers license, EXCEPT IN IDAHO. Ms. Douglas’s plan is great, if her League of Women Voters are trying to attract more of the illegal aliens and degenerates who don’t want to be identified. Don’t listen to her, Butch.
