Top rated speaker to kick off Kootenai County Financial Week

Get $mart Idaho, a local financial education coalition, is sponsoring two events with author and television personality Sarano Kelley to kick off Kootenai County Financial Education Week.

Kelley, a highly ranked motivational speaker and financial literacy advocate will challenge students and business leaders to "Stand up for Financial Literacy" during an appearance at Coeur d'Alene High School and at a community lunch on Monday.

The community awareness event to build community support for financial education programs and to challenge participants to take action in the community is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Resort.

State legislators, county commissioners, mayors, school officials, business leaders and concerned citizens are expected to attend.

Kelley is traveling the country during National Financial Literacy Month and has selected Coeur d'Alene as one of a select few locations to join a national dialogue on fiscal education and personal responsibility.

Kelley has appeared on "Good Morning America," and his own ABC TV primetime television special for children called "The Game: Winning at Life."
