Pounds, Dodge medalists at Resort

COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene senior Alex Pounds shot an even-par 71 to claim boys medalist honors at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Shootout on Thursday.

"Alex is really starting to solidify himself as the No. 1," Coeur d'Alene coach Bryan Duncan said. "He won medalist on Monday at our home meet and backed it up again today. It's good to have depth and inner-squad competition. It's what drives the program."

Maddie Dodge shot an 85 to earn girls medalist honors for Post Falls.

All three teams compete in the Sandpoint Invitational on Monday at the Links Golf Club in Post Falls.

RATHDRUM - Dylan Van Wingerden shot a 2-over 37 to claim boys medalist honors for Timberlake in an Intermountain League dual with Kellogg at Twin Lakes Village Golf Club.

Kellogg freshman Kaceelyn Pouttu shot a 1-over 36 to win medalist honors in the girls match.

The boys teams tied at 174. The Wildcat girls defeated Timberlake 208-248.

Both schools travel to the IML tournament Saturday in Bonners Ferry.

"They (Lakeside) hit the ball well," Timberlake coach Mike Menti said. "We played good defense behind our pitcher tonight. They just got timely hits and we didn't."

"We had a lot of three-set matches," Lake City coach Bob Brunn said. "We'd win the first set, but kind of folded and didn't play as well as we should have to finish those matches. "

Michael Scott earned a three-set win over Ben Hardy for the Timberwolves.
