BOISE (AP) - An Idaho City man has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge for his role in a fatal stabbing outside a Boise bikini bar last fall.

The Idaho Statesman reports that 31-year-old Tariq McWilliams pleaded guilty in 4th District Court this week to one count each of manslaughter and using a weapon in the commission of a felony.

McWilliams was initially charged with second-degree murder in the September slaying of 30-year-old Jason Robert Tipton outside the Torch bikini bar.

During the investigation, witnesses told police a verbal altercation in the parking lot turned into a physical fight before the stabbing. Tipton was pronounced dead less than an hour after the encounter.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 14.
