Virgil Phillips, 53

Virgil Eugene Phillips, 53, of Coeur d’Alene passed away Thursday, April 16, 2010. Virgil was born Jan. 5, 1957, in Coeur d’Alene to Donald and Beverly (DeBord) Phillips.

Virgil was well known and well loved. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent much of his time on the Coeur d’Alene River and more recently on the rivers and lakes near Spokane where he resided with his companion, Kari McCune and son, Joshua.

He is also survived by his daughters, Sara Lyon and husband, Chad of Boise, and Rachael Phillips and companion, Ryan Blaine of Boise; his brother, Don Phillips of Rathdrum; his sisters, Julie Oliver and husband, Mike of Coeur d’Alene and Fran Phillips of Pinehurst; his mother, Beverly Phillips of Pinehurst; and many nieces and nephews.

Virgil recently met his first grandson, Lucas Lyon, son of daughter Sara and husband Chad, and he was looking forward to meeting his second grandson, Dawson Eugene, to be born to daughter Rachael and companion Ryan in May. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Phillips in 2004.

Virgil will be remembered for his personable spirit, loving heart and encouraging ways.
