| April 20, 2010 9:00 PM

AARP will host a free "Staying Sharp" session in Coeur d'Alene on Friday.

"With a focusing on memory, physical activities and eating right, the program helps give participants the tools they need to keep their brains in top shape as they age," according to a press release.

Peggy Munson, AARP Idaho president, and Cathy McDougal, AARP Idaho associate state director, will lead the program scheduled noon to 1 p.m. at the Iron Horse restaurant, 407 Sherman Ave.

Organizers said that as people age they tend to have a decline in memory, the onset of depression becomes more likely as do chronic health issues.

The "Staying Sharp" program provides simple tools, steps and tips to help combat these issues, the release said.
