Forsythe commits to play volleyball at EasternI

COEUR d'ALENE - Britta Forsythe, an outside hitter for Lake City High the past two seasons, has verbally committed to play volleyball at Eastern Washington University next season.

The 6-foot Forsythe is a student at North Idaho Christian School in Hayden. She played volleyball for NICS as a freshman and sophomore, then played the past two seasons for Lake City. Forsythe was an all-5A Inland Empire League selection as a senior, averaging more than 15 kills per match.

She also played club volleyball for the Spokane Splash, coached by former North Idaho College coach Chris Kosty.

Ex-Viking Porter signs to play golf at Boise State

BOISE - Taylor Porter, a 2008 Coeur d'Alene High grad and now a sophomore at Community Colleges of Spokane, has signed to play golf next year at Boise State.

Porter has competed in six tournaments this year, winning the Bigfoot-Cardinal Classic on April 2-3. As a freshman he was named second-team All-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, and made the NWAACC all-tournament team after tying for fourth place at the league championship.

Other highlights for Porter include winning the 2009 Avondale Presidents Cup, placing fifth out of 190 participants at the 2009 Wandermere Amateur, and placing fifth among the amateurs and 28th overall at the Rosauers Open in 2009.
