Volunteers sought for economic summit

| April 16, 2010 9:00 PM

The University of Idaho will host an International Economic Summit Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Coeur d'Alene Casino and Event Center in Worley.

Event sponsors seek 35 community volunteers to serve as score keepers, bankers, summit monitors and to oversee registration.

"The University of Idaho will provide training and lunch for all volunteers," said event organizer Heidi Rogers. "They also will receive our immense gratitude."

The summit, co-sponsored by the Northwest Council for Computer Education, is a global trading simulation that brings in approximately 300 high school students from around the region. Students form teams and together serve as "economic advisers," aggressively working to better the economic situation of their country.

At the same time, teams strive to improve the world through proposals addressing real world issues ranging from pollution and deforestation to AIDS and human trafficking.
