Timothy R. Thies, 56

Timothy R. Thies, 56, resident of Coeur d’Alene, passed away April 13, 2010, peacefully at home. He was born Feb. 19, 1954, in Boone, Iowa, to Ivan Russell and Janice Louise (Kennedy) Thies.

Timothy was raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and graduated from Oskaloosa High School. He attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, and graduated from Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colo. Timothy married Kristen Thomas in New York, N.Y., on Dec. 19, 1980. They moved to Idaho in 2003 to care for family.

He was a fine artist and co-owner of the WestWind Fine Art Gallery. Timothy attended St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a founding member of Putney Painters in Putney, Vt. He was also a member of The Portrait Society of America, California Arts Club in Pasadena, Calif., The Salmagunli Arts Club in New York and The Oil Painters of America.

Timothy is survived by his wife, Kristen at home; dog Princess Lilly; mother and stepfather Janice L. and Paul White; sister Diane Davies; brother Daniel J. Thies; sister Julie Albrecht; nieces and nephews Alishia, Jennifer, Adam, Stephanie, Chad, Carter and Maddie.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ivan in 1967; paternal grandparents William and Bertha Thies; maternal grandparents Catherine and John Kennedy; and mother-in-law Elna Mary Thomas, AKA Patti Dugan, in 2007.

A Commemorative Gathering will be held for family and friends to view a DVD of Timothy’s Garden and Landscape paintings from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. A memorial Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene.
