Scott, Booth lead Trojan girls to track victory

TRACK AND FIELD

SANDPOINT - Shaundra Scott and Kadie Booth were each part of four first-place finishes for Post Falls' girls, and Rebecca Bauman threw a personal best in winning the shot put in a thee-way meet with Lake City and Sandpoint on Tuesday.

Kacie Shields won the 100 and 300 hurdles for Post Falls, which won the girls meet handily.

Lake City won the boys meet. Matt Wardell won the discus and shot put for Post Falls.

COEUR d'ALENE - Jason Pattis delivered a two-run double to highlight a five-run second inning as the Timberwolves defeated the Bulldogs.

Bryce Mort's two-run single ended the game in the fifth inning on the 10-run rule.

Scott Siebert scattered three hits and struck out three for Lake City (7-5).

"He was real effective all day, kept them off balance - and we came out swinging and running," Lake City coach Al Bevacqua said. "We came out with a little bit of a chip on our shoulder (after losing to Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday)."

Eric Nikssairian singled and came around to score on a passed ball in the fourth inning for Sandpoint (5-6).

Lake City plays host to Coeur d'Alene today at 4.

"I'm a little bit disappointed with the way we played today," St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said. "We didn't play to our full potential and we weren't ready to play mentally. Hopefully we'll learn from it. Those kids from Moscow can swing the bats throughout the lineup."

Jaden Guidry had three hits and an RBI in a three-run fifth inning for St. Maries (3-9), which hosts Bonners Ferry in a doubleheader Saturday.

"They (Colville) did a good job of putting the ball in play," Post Falls coach Jack Foster said. "They had two runs that were earned because of our five errors. They put the pressure on us and we didn't handle it well."

Richelle Ashburn had seven strikeouts for Post Falls (7-4), who host Lewiston on Saturday in a 5A Inland Empire League doubleheader.
