Hubert S. Logan Jr., 68

Beloved husband and father died peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Kootenai Medical Center. Hugh was born Aug. 4, 1941, to Hubert Sr. and Tillie (Logan) in Albuquerque, N.M.

His family moved to the Carson, Calif., area when he was at a young age where they resided most of his early life. He graduated in 1960 from Banning High School in Wilmington, Calif. He was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines in the mid-1960s. He married his current wife Vickie on Jan. 28, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nev.

His employment continued as a Teamster member for quite a number of years. He worked mainly in the Long Beach/Los Angeles Harbors at various occupations including marine electrician and foreman for several shipping container repair/maintenance and storage businesses. He ended his working career as an International Longshoremen’s & Warehousemen’s union member. He continued working in the Long Beach/Los Angeles harbors at various shipping container terminals as a mechanic from 1988 until retirement in September 2000.

After retiring, he and his wife relocated from California to Rathdrum where they made many new friends. His interests in life included horses, hunting, camping, fishing, trap/skeet shooting, spending hours in his shop and the outdoors in general. He was a member of the Hauser trap club.

Hugh was preceded in death by his father, mother and sister Maryjane Lemaire. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; son Steven; daughter-in-law Brenda Lynn; brother William; sisters-in-law Clara Logan and Barbara Wolar; brother-in-law Gary Nupen and several nieces and nephews.
