Roy Jolly, 85

Roy Jolly, resident of Coeur d’Alene, passed away April 11, 2010, at North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital in Post Falls. He was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Rapid City, S.D., to Roy Robinson and Thelma (Leach) Jolly.

He moved to California at an early age and then moved to Lewiston, where he graduated from high school and returned to Rapid City. On Aug. 10, 1954, he married Elaine Bowdish in Rapid City.  After they were married they moved to Gooding and then transferred to Coeur d’Alene in 1971. He was a design engineer for the Idaho Transportation Department and designed the highway project of the Veterans Memorial Bridge. In earlier years, Roy attended Assembly of God Church.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hiking and camping. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Jolly at home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Eve Jolly of Coeur d’Alene, brother George Jolly of Las Vegas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ben and sister Dorothy.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will follow the graveside at 3 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene with a reception to follow at the funeral chapel’s reception center.
