Krier fuels Cardinal sweep

SOFTBALL

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Amanda Krier was 6 for 8 with seven RBIs as the North Idaho College Cardinals swept Western Nevada 13-2 and 10-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Friday at Edmonds Field.

North Idaho (25-21, 18-16 SWAC) scored eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull away from the Wildcats (5-31, 4-26). Juliann Hartnett collected three RBIs on three hits for NIC in the first game.

Briggett Plenger had three RBIs for the Cardinals in the second game.

The teams conclude their series today with another doubleheader.

Lewis-Clark State

edges NIC men

CLARKSTON, Wash. - Connor McCracken of Lewis-Clark State and Dillon Williams of North Idaho tied for medalist honors with 1-over-par 72s at Quail Ridge.

Lewis-Clark State's men edged NIC 294-297.

"This is what we can do," NIC coach Randy Boswell said. "We could have gone lower, but we are closing the gap with them."

Alana Norris of L-C State earned medalist honors in the women's match with a 1-over 72.

NIC's women, ranked 13th in the NJCAA, were without No. 1 golfer Ashley Burke, who stayed in Coeur d'Alene on Friday to complete a test.

North Idaho travels to dual Columbia Basin in Richland, Wash., next Saturday.
