Vehicle use map available

| April 9, 2010 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - The Motorized Vehicle Use Map for the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District that displays roads and trails designated for motor vehicle is available for free.

The Forest Service will hold two open house meetings to answer questions about the map - on April 14 at the IPNF Forest Supervisor's Office, 3815 Schreiber Way in Coeur d'Alene, and on April 15 at the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District's Silver Valley Office, 173 Commerce Drive in Smelterville.

Members of the public can drop in anytime between 4-7 p.m. at either meeting to ask questions about the map, and to pick up a copy of the new map.

The map will also be available through the IPNF Web site, http://fs.usda.gov.

The Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District map is based on several years of public involvement and analysis, documented in an Environmental Assessment and culminating in the April 30, 2009, decision issued by the Forest Service identifying roads and trails open to motorized traffic on the District.

"The MVUM is the principal enforcement tool for motor vehicle use," District Ranger Randy Swick said.
