Performing arts events to be held at PFHS

POST FALLS - Three performing arts events will be held at Post Falls High in April. • The Cultural, Fine and Performing Arts Night will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

POST FALLS - Three performing arts events will be held at Post Falls High in April.

• The Cultural, Fine and Performing Arts Night will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

Various cultural, artistic and musical talents of PFHS students will be showcased. Cost will be $5 per person, which includes a soup and salad served in ceramic bowls that attendees will keep and were created by art students. Artwork, including that of recent national Artsonia Idol contest winner Meaghan Slaney, will be on display.

Music will be provided by the Troubadours, the jazz ensemble and guitar class. Profits will be donated to the Post Falls Food Bank.

• The jazz ensemble will present the 14th annual swing dance "Sentimental Journey" with the University of Idaho Dance Band on Saturday, April 17, from 7-10 p.m.

The event features the vocal quartet "The Hamptones."

Attendees will be able to listen and dance to swing music from the 40's, 50's and modern swing. Dessert, coffee and punch will be provided.

Cost is $10. Tickets are available at PFHS and at the door. Proceeds benefit the PFHS Instrumental Music Department.

• The Idaho State Solo Contest will be held on Friday, April 30, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The event will feature the state's top instrumental and vocal soloists, including from several local high schools. Awards will be given to the top three students in each category.

The contest is free and open to the public.
