Karl William Sackman, 68

| April 7, 2010 4:29 AM

A gentle soul slipped into eternity on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Karl William Sackman was born on July 27, 1941, in Anaconda, Mont., to Edgar Lee (Pete) and Nina Lorene Sackman.

He moved to Boise as a child and lived there until he joined the U.S. Navy. Karl was stationed all over the world including Antarctica. While stationed in New Zealand he met and married Margaret Gael Jones. They had three children together, Ordell, Michelle and Lisa. Margaret Gael later died, and while Karl was still in New Zealand he met and married Glenice Margaret Parr Williams. With her daughter Lynice, Karl’s family was now complete.

In 1979 Karl moved his family back to America, settling in Coeur d’Alene. He raised his family here and with Glenice started a family business where they worked side by side for more than 25 years.

Karl was a kind and generous man whose passion for life, family and friends will always be remembered in his legendary tall-tales and hilarious stories. His ability to captivate and entertain with his humor was indeed a unique gift which will keep him forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Karl is survived by his wife of 31 years, four children, their spouses and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Center for Spiritual Living on the corner of Seventh Street and Wallace Avenue in Coeur d’Alene. Please contact Reverend Carolyn Holland at (208) 659-3041 for information. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
