Katherine 'Kathy' L. Hardy, 86

Katherine “Kathy” L. Hardy, 86, passed away at Creekside Inn in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

Kathy was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Aug. 14, 1923, to Glenn and Velma White. She and her family moved first to Denver, Colo., and eventually to Los Angeles, Calif., where she met and fell in love with “the guy next door,” Van Hardy.

Kathy married Van at the Wee Kirk of the Heather on June 3, 1950, in Los Angeles. In 1966 they moved to Redding (Palo Cedro), Calif., where they had three successful businesses, and finally retired to Coeur d’Alene in 1993.

She was an active member of The Lady of Elks in Coeur d’Alene. She enjoyed gardening, shopping trips to San Francisco, an ocean view, loving her family and eating chocolate.

She is survived by her daughters, Alison (Bill) Steinmetz of Coto De Caza, Calif., and Karen Hardy of Coto De Caza; son Brad (Monika) Hardy of Coeur d’Alene; three grandchildren: Stephen, Michael and Brianna; and two great-grandchildren: Agnes and Laelle. 

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Van in October 2008 and sister Dorothy White.

Kathy is now joyously residing in the arms of her Father in Heaven.

Memorial service will be held at at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Creekside Inn.
