Plea negotiations under way in hospice case
TWIN FALLS (AP) - Plea negotiations are under way in the case of a Twin Falls woman charged with running an unlicensed health care and hospice facility.
A court hearing scheduled Wednesday in the case against 57-year-old Jordana Bryan was vacated. Attorneys for both sides asked the judge to make the case inactive while they engage in plea negotiations, The Times-News reported.
Prosecutors say that in July, Bryan had at least three adults with dementia living in an unlicensed facility called Ellie House. Authorities became involved after the Twin Falls County coroner's office reported that an elderly man had died at the facility.
Bryan's attorney has asked that the charges be dropped, saying she did not need a license to operate a private care facility for two people.
Bryan is not licensed in Idaho as a nurse.
