to Naismith Midseason Team

Gonzaga’s Brandon Clarke and Rui Hachimura were named to the 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday.

Clarke recently broke the program’s single season block record with 77 already in 2018-19. He is third in the country averaging 3.08 blocks per game, and first in the nation shooting 68.8 percent from the field. The redshirt junior is averaging 16.8 points and a team-high eight rebounds per game.

Hachimura is averaging a team-best 20.2 points per outing, shooting 60 percent from the field. He is adding 6.4 rebounds per game.

On March 4 the list will narrow to 10 national semifinalists. The four finalists will be announced on March 19 and fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite player leading up to the final announcement. The 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy will be awarded at the Naismith Awards Brunch on April 7 during the Final Four in Minneapolis. Only players on the midseason team are eligible to advance to the next round.
