LIBERTY LAKE — Freshman Bridger Holmes of North Idaho College birdied six of his last eight holes to get into a playoff, then won on the first playoff hole to claim men’s medalist honors at the Lilac Invitational on Tuesday at MeadowWood Golf Course.

Holmes shot 71-67—138.

NIC won the men’s team title, edging its ‘B’ team by eight strokes 574-582 for the tournament title that feature schools from the NAIA and Division III.

“It was a big win for our men’s team, and great showing by our ‘second’ team,” NIC coach Russell Grove said. “The fact that our ‘B’ team was able to beat the local four-year schools speaks volumes to the depth of our team.”

Rocky Mountain won the women’s title with a 300-304—604. NIC was fourth with a 344-338—682.

NIC plays at the Grays Harbor Northwest Athletic Conference match Oct. 20-21 at Olympia Country Club.
