PENDLETON, Ore. — The Cardinals generated plenty of offensive chances, but could get only one of their 19 shots into the back of the net, settling for a tie at Blue Mountain Community College in NWAC play.

“We felt like we had the right guys to win today, we just didn’t finish our chances. Their keeper had a couple of big saves,” Cardinals coach Ken Thompson said. “But we did generate a lot of attacks, and that’s better than we’ve done lately.”

Jacob Luhrs’ goal off Dorian Cornichuck’s assist — both sophomores from Alaska — put NIC ahead 20 minutes into the game. Blue Mountain tied it early in the second half and neither team could score in the remaining 32 minutes.

Isaiah Damschen had four saves in goal for NIC (2-3-2 overall, 0-1-1 NWAC), which faces Treasure Valley Community College today in Ontario, Ore.
