Jessen shines for Stars: Brooke Jessen, a rising junior at Timberlake High, helped the Spokane Stars Blue cap their season by winning the End of the Trail Summer Swoosh International Showcase in late July in Orange County, Calif.

Jessen, a 6-foot center, averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as the Stars went 5-0 in the tourney, which consisted of five pool-play games. The Stars beat the Lade Elite 17U (Oregon) 65-42, UFB (France) 53-25, Hoopaholics 17U (San Francisco) 65-26, the Mateo Suns (Los Angeles) 57-37 and East Side All-Stars (Seattle) 73-60.

Jessen started all 33 games this season for the Stars, who finished 30-3.

Twins and former Post Falls High standouts Tyler and Jacksen McCliment-Call, now rising seniors at University High in Spokane Valley, also played for the Spokane Stars Blue.

Stars camp: Players from North Idaho are invited as the Spokane Stars begin their weekly basketball skills camp Sunday, Sept. 8 at The Warehouse Athletic Facility, 800 N. Hamilton St. in Spokane.

Classes are scheduled for each Sunday, and cost $20 per session.
