NIC SOFTBALL: Kerr sends NIC past Clackamas

OREGON CITY, Ore. — Jori Kerr hit a tiebreaking home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift North Idaho College past Clackamas 5-4 in a nonconference game on Saturday at Clackamas Community College.

Clackamas tied the game at 2-2 on an RBI double by Kat Hylton in the top of the third inning. Madi Mott and Devinne Amesquita homered in the bottom half of the inning to give NIC a 4-2 lead.

Grace Ferres struck out six in five innings for NIC against Clackamas (16-17).

Earlier, Lake City High product Bailey Cavanagh and Sarah Williams drove in five runs each for NIC in a 27-3 win over Southwestern Oregon of Coos Bay (10-17) in a nonconference game, also at Clackamas.

Cavanagh hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Williams hit a two-run double in the third for NIC.

NIC (19-8) travels to Mt. Hood today at noon.
