PREP ROUNDUP: Chavez, Reynolds help lift Cd'A Charter boys past Bonners Ferry
“Tonight was an intense defensive battle,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “Bonners Ferry came out aggressive and went up quickly. We did a good job of staying with our game plan and was able to tie it up at the half. Bonners Ferry came out in the second half connecting passes and getting into our third. I think we were able to counter attack and won numerous corners. (Charter’s) Treffen McCord’s corners were fantastic today and helped lead to the second goal.”

THE CHEAP SEATS with STEVE CAMERON: It's early, but these Cougars don't look too shabby
It's too soon to call the Washington State men's basketball team a Pac-12 contender, or go overboard with season targets. The schedule has been pretty soft, and as Smith is quick to point out, a Covid cancellation at Colorado means that the Cougs have not played a road game. Still… There’s talent in Pullman.

THE FRONT ROW WITH DYLAN GREENE: A change in the Cougar culture
Nerdball. Plenty of fun was had with that term when Kyle Smith was hired as the Washington State University men’s basketball head coach in March of 2019.

THE CHEAP SEATS with STEVE CAMERON: WSU hoops, and its youthful box of chocolates
Some of Wazzu’s recurring puzzles are down to the coach himself, since Kyle Smith regularly hands playing time to a crowded cast of characters — each of whom is developing in his own way and at his own pace. It goes without saying, of course, that a gang like these Kiddie Kougs will naturally be inconsistent. The good news is that Smith has experience in the art of patching together new programs, so he’s able to keep things in perspective.
