James Oliver LePard

James “Jim” O. LePard died at his cabin on Coeur d’Alene Lake of heart failure while surrounded by his family on Oct. 6, 2018. He was born in Moscow, Idaho, on Oct. 27, 1933, to George S. and Marie (Olson) LePard. He has a brother, George A. (Ann) LePard.

Jim graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. He earned his bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Idaho.

Jim married his high school sweetheart, Barbara James. Their children are Kathryn LePard (Dale Schroeder), Stanley James (Donna Matorin) LePard and Bonnie LePard (Bruce Reed). Their grandchildren are Tyler LePard (Loren Drummond), James Jacobus, Julia Scott LePard Reed, Nelson James LePard Reed, and Zoe LePard. His extended family members are Greg (Sonja) Schroeder, John (Michelle) Schroeder, Emily Schroeder Davis (Robert) and great-grandchildren: Morgan and Christian Davis, Lillian Schroeder and Lane Schroeder. Jim’s children and grandchildren brought him so much joy.

Jim worked for the Idaho State Highway Department, designing and helping build Interstate 90. He served as Coeur d’Alene city engineer for 10 years and later formed the partnership of LePard and Frame Engineering.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 60 years and Lutheran Church of the Master for 25 years. Jim’s faith in Christ sustained him throughout his life and especially at the end.

At Jim’s request, there will not be a public memorial service. His immediate family gathered with Pastor Bob Albing at their lake cabin for a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to ELCA World Hunger or Lutheran Church of the Master at 4800 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, has been entrusted with Jim’s care. Please sign Jim’s guest registry and view his online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
