RANGELY, Colo. — Ismael Mane, a freshman forward from Paris, France, made himself right at home as a goal-scoring threat at North Idaho College during his arrival on campus.

Mane recorded a hat trick, scoring twice in the second half of the 20th ranked Cardinals 4-2 win over the Colorado Northwestern Spartans in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match at the Bud Striegel Family Soccer Field on Thursday.

“We’ve known what he’s capable of since he arrived here, and he’s either in the box assisting or scoring goals,”  NIC men’s soccer coach Brad Williams said. “From Day 1, he’s been consistent and hard to handle for defenders. He’s really fast and strong. He’s not a big guy, but it’s really hard to move him off the ball.”

David Ochoa scored in the 22nd minute for NIC (10-0-1, 5-0-1 SWAC), which faces No. 2 Salt Lake on Saturday in Taylorsville, Utah.

“We ran a lot today, but it’s necessary to defend in this conference,” Williams said. “It’s a big commitment to run like crazy and turn up the pressure, and we’re going to have to do it again on Saturday.”

Colorado Northwestern (2-6-1, 1-5) hosts Pacific Northwest Christian of Kennewick, Wash., on Saturday.
