Fay Harrington, 90
Fay Harrington, a beloved matriarch, devoted mother and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication and community service. Born on Dec. 18, 1933, in Lookout, Ky., to Winfred and Allie Roberts, Fay grew up alongside her four sisters and one brother, forming bonds that shaped her life.
In the late 1940s, Fay moved to California and eventually met and married the love of her life, Leroy Harrington, on Sept. 26, 1952. Together, they built a beautiful life in the Antelope Valley, where they resided for over 50 years. Partners in life and business, they founded Antelope Valley Trucking, with Fay running operations from home while raising their two daughters, Diana Burkholder (James) and Yvonne Casagrande (Steve).
Fay’s heart was her family. She was a devoted “Grandma” to her five grandchildren— Dawn Johnson, Andrew Wilson, Jennifer Reyes, Carrie Costello and Jessica Echenique — and eight great-grandchildren. Known for her warmth and generosity, she extended her care to anyone in need, earning her the affectionate title of “Grandma” by all who knew her.
In addition to her work with the trucking business, Fay enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent in California. Later in life, she worked for Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She retired at the remarkable age of 81.
Fay also dedicated herself to her community. She served on the Palmdale School District School Board for 14 years, advocating for education and families. She was an active member of the Palmdale Republican Women’s Club and the Palmdale Emblem Club, where her leadership inspired many.
Fay’s life was a testament to love, resilience and selflessness. On Nov. 25, 2024, she reunited with Leroy, who preceded her in death in 2009, leaving a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
