Patricia Bailey, 89

| March 5, 2024 1:00 AM

Patricia Ann (Larsen) Bailey July 30, 1934 — Feb. 25, 2024

Patricia (Pat) was born in San Francisco, Calif., to Curtis and Astrid Larsen. Shortly after, they relocated to Arcata, Calif., where she attended schools and Humboldt State University. It was here that she met and later married Melvin (Mel) Bailey in 1957. Together, they raised three children in Eureka, Calif.: John, Diane and Craig.

As empty nesters, they relocated first to Yuba City, Calif., then to Elk Grove, Calif. Following Mel’s retirement, they moved to Vancouver, Wash., to be near their daughter, Diane, and her family, then followed them again to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Mel passed away in 2011. In 2018, Pat, along with Diane’s family, relocated to Scottsdale, Ariz., and then in August of 2021 they made their final move to Carson City, Nev.

The dash between these dates cannot be easily summarized. She lived a truly authentic and selfless life. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, all children and dogs. Always the prayer warrior, her superpower was providing loving support behind the scenes. If you knew her, you were fortunate and your life was better because of her presence in your life.

There will be no services at her request. She will be interred at Memorial Cemetery in Hayden, Idaho, alongside her husband of 53 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Bailey; parents Curtis and Astrid Larsen; brother Curtis (Butch) Larsen; niece Patti McAninch; in-laws Richard and Vernie Bailey; sister-in-law Patricia (Ray) Hickman and daughter-in-law Colleen Bailey.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, John and Eun Kyung Bailey, Diane and Tom DuBos, and Craig and Faith Bailey. Her grandchildren, Sarah Budrow, Megan DuBos, Joseph Bailey, great grandson Damian (Sage) Budrow; great-great-granddaughter Hope Budrow; sister Betty Persenaire; niece Kelly (Mark) Moulton; brother-in-law Richard (LaWanda) Bailey and daughter-in-law Judy Bailey.

She passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Feb. 25, 2024.

If you’d like to honor her memory, take the time to love a child unconditionally, hug your local pastor and pet a friendly dog.

Smile, know that you’re loved, trust in the Lord and never forget to pray. Godspeed.
