LOKKEN: Repeats a debunked lie

JoAnn Lokken’s recent letter can’t go unanswered. She repeats the thoroughly debunked lie that a performer at a recent Pride in the Park exposed their genitals in public. I have seen the undoctored video of the performance. The performer’s genitals were covered by clothing (shorts, tights and a leotard) throughout. At no point were they exposed.

Mrs. Lokken further implies the performer not only exposed themselves, but then grabbed their exposed genitals. It simply didn’t happen. And frankly it beggars belief that Mrs. Lokken would have watched a video — in her own words, “many times” — if it actually depicted what she claims. I would think once would have been enough given her feigned disgust. Really, what’s the purpose of several viewings? Altogether unbelievable.

In any event, the citizen journalist in question will have her day in court. She will have to justify to a jury of her peers the chaos and hardship she caused by publishing the doctored video, and the attendant lies.

And that is the truth of it.
