Lillian 'Lily' Eleanor Moore Lind, 99

Lillian (Lily) Eleanor Moore Lind, 99, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died Jan. 8, 2024, at the Idaho State Veterans Home, Post Falls, Idaho. She was born March 2, 1924, in Hawkins, Wis., to French parents Ann and George Briant, along with two sisters and two brothers.

Lillian’s lifelong passion was in writing, which started at age 7, winning poetry contests sponsored by the Superior Telegram that covered Northern Wisconsin. Lillian attended NIC, earning a two-year associate's degree. Lillian was a news correspondent for the Spokane Chronicle, winning the Excellence in Journalism Award, the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Competition, Inland Empire Chapter; The Oregonian; magazine article submissions; and the occasional letter to the editor.

Lillian belonged to and enjoyed the Idaho Writers League; being a Cub Scout and Bluebird leader; Just Us Club; Catholic Daughters; the Pinochle Crew; playing Bridge; and bagpipes; dances in Kellogg; and many friends she met along the way.

Lillian is preceded in death by husbands Ray Moore and Jack Lind; sons Bill and Dave; daughter Linda; and granddaughter Amy. She is survived by sons Eric (Paula), and Jack (Sherri); daughter Lynette; grandkids Erica (Mark), Heidi (Gary), Anna, Marbry (Rich), Sean, John (Heather), and Katie (Alex); great-grandkids Savannah, Sarah, Molly, Raya, Rowan, James, Riggins, Leena and Rory; and companion Leo Benoit.

Lillian, along with family and friends, was looking forward to her 100th birthday party, which saddens us to have to cancel.

A graveside memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the St. Thomas Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene with Father Mariusz Majewski presiding. Mass Intentions will be Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at the 5 p.m. mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. A ceremony at Arcadia Beach is to be held at a later date.
