United Way hires new executive director
United Way of North Idaho said Tuesday it hired Rachel Peterson as its new executive director.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to join this beautiful community of people, many of whom have a similar passion for making a difference and helping others," Peterson said in a press release.
Peterson has over 25 years of experience working with nonprofits, focusing on meeting local needs with local resources.
She also brings "a combination of business development and entrepreneurial spirit that will benefit the United Way of North Idaho as we expand our reach to better our community," the release said.
As a military wife, Peterson moved several times, mainly around the West Coast. She founded, developed and sold three businesses during that time.
Her husband, Mark, served in the Air Force in the U.S and overseas. They moved to North Idaho earlier this year.
Peterson replaces Mark Tucker, who left the organization earlier this year.
According to the release, "United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in every North Idaho community. We do this by supporting and developing programs and services that address our communities’ most pressing needs, including childcare scholarships and Community Care Fund grants."
