Gregory Iver Howell passed away at his home Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on July 30, 1966, to Alton and Arlene Howell of Sagle, Idaho.

Gregory grew up in Post Falls and Careywood, where he attended local schools. He graduated from North Idaho College with a degree in diesel mechanics.

He was involved with 4H and was a teen leader at 4H camp. He was also involved with school sports and loved wrestling.

Growing up on the ranch in Careywood with his brothers, Gregory loved branding, working with his dad, repairing tractors and machinery, and deer hunting on the ranch with his brothers and dad, whom he was very close to.

He was a proud employee of Interstate Concrete for nearly 37 years and was looking forward to retirement. He was instrumental in getting logos painted on the drums of his Interstate mixer truck and other logos.

Gregory loved reading. He read several books each month and enjoyed sharing them with family members. He was also an avid snowmobiler and loved waterskiing, kayaking, boating, exploring with his side-by-side, and camping. He loved the outdoors.

Gregory is survived by his daughter, Larissa Palm (Matt), and granddaughter Trinity, Post Falls. He is also survived by his wife, LeAnn, and stepchildren Dalton Schoonover, Grand Junction, Colo.; Abbi Sanchez (Marc), Coeur d’ Alene; Ben Landis, Careywood and grandchildren Serenity, Elijah, Baylee, Kynslee and Seamus. He is also survived by his three brothers, Mike (Malissa), Hayden Lake; Paul (Kelly), Helena, Montana; Douglas, Sagle; as well as his parents, Arlene and Alton, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Gregory was a family man and the family loved him.

He loved being with his large family and always attended the annual reunion on the Cd'A River every July, with sometimes over 100 family members to celebrate and float the river. Some families came from as far as Germany.

Gregory was well-known and liked throughout Sandpoint, Coeur d’Alene and  Hayden. His family, friends, neighbors and co-workers were very dear to him. They would always comment that Greg was so caring and always helped anyone who needed assistance. He will be so truly missed. Your prayers are requested for him and the family.

Funeral services will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E Haycraft Ave. Coeur d’Alene on May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow. A rosary will be offered before at 10:30 a.m.
