Robert 'Bob' Harold Jacobs, 85
Robert (Bob) Harold Jacobs passed away from this earthly existence April 1, 2024, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Oct. 2, 1938, to Harold and Cecelia (Gribnau) Jacobs. He was the first of seven children welcomed into the Jacobs clan.
Bob graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in 1956. He joined the Navy in 1958 and spent time on an aircraft carrier in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Patty English in 1967. Their only child, Patrick William Jacobs, was born in 1972. They later divorced in 1993.
Bob worked several jobs until he went to work for Kaiser Aluminum in 1965 and worked there for 35+ years before his retirement. While working for Kaiser, he returned to school to become an electrician and worked for Kaiser in that capacity until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing, playing softball in his youth, but mostly golfing. He was a long-time member of Avondale Golf Club and the Lincoln Way Golf Association (LWGA), a group of golfing buddies who have been together for over 40 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Patrick, brother Donald Jacobs and sister Mary Jacobs Yager. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Mary) Jacobs, and sisters Dolores Johnson, Linda (Bob) Ely and Gayle (Jim) Foote. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his biological family, Bob had a very close relationship with his golf family: Ed Smatlan, Dan Burnham, Don Brown, Ralph Nelson, Dale Hickman, Loren Johnson, Steve Peterson, Dexter Yates, Barry Walsborn, Greg Mills, Mike Carper, Bob Friend, Randy Haddock and Bill Cope, to name a few.
A celebration of life will be held at Avondale Golf Course on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Junior Golf Program in care of Avondale Golf Course, 10745 Avondale Loop Road, Hayden, ID 83835. Bob’s remains will be placed in Riverview Cemetery later.
