PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES: An answer

| December 13, 2023 1:00 AM

In a letter printed Dec. 8, Donna Casalicchio asked, “Could someone enlighten me as to how a person can run for office (president) with so many upcoming appointments with the judicial system? I just don’t get it. Thanks for your help.” That’s a fair question. And, always being one to help a “neighbor” when I can, I’ll do my best to claim and accept the writer’s gratitude as follows.

The answer is pretty simple, really. 1. The incumbent won in 2020 basically campaigning from his basement and in isolation. (Akin to being locked up.) So it is quite easy to imagine a fit candidate with all of his/her marbles being capable of campaigning while dealing with a full plate of judicial issues. 2. A strong desire to put our country and it’s citizenry first is more than ample motivation to run for office (and especially if he/she doesn’t need time to keep track of how much/often foreign interests are donating to his/her family.)
