ISRAEL: ‘The Perfect Storm’
The commercial fishing vessel ‘Andrea Gail’ and her crew of six were lost in the North Atlantic Ocean in October 1991. The vessel had the misfortune to be in the path of three separate storms — hence “The Perfect Storm” (Junger, 1997).
Most of us experience a perfect storm in our lives in which we are hit by multiple and sad events.
Israel — the size of New Jersey — is fighting on many fronts — Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, Syria, the West Bank, the Media and the United Nations! We hear chanting, “From the River to the Sea.” “From the Jordan to the Mediterranean” means no Jews allowed in their own land.
The Roman Emperor Hadrian also hated the Jews. After the Jews decimated several of Rome’s legions in the Bar Kokhba Revolt (A.D. 132-136), he renamed their land Philistia or Palestine. The Philistines (Goliath) were invaders from the sea. The Babylonians conquered them and they disappeared from history.
Hitler killed six million Jews and many nations have taken turns expelling them. Antisemitism and a moral fog have again descended over the earth. Has Israel become, “the canary in the coal mine” — a warning?
Abraham was the Father of Isaac (Jews) and Ishmael (1900 B.C.), and was related to other Arab peoples. For thousands of years there has been a spiritual battle between Abraham’s relatives.
From at least the 1930s, the Arabs have had their own nations and have over 500 times the area of Israel.
Genesis 6:11 says, “The earth also was corrupt before GOD, and the earth was filled with violence.” Violence in Hebrew is “Hamas.”
