Carla Noonan Griswold, 74

Carla Noonan Griswold passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on April 4, 2022.
Born on May 9, 1947, in Superior, Wis., to her parents Bill and Germaine Noonan. Carla was a much-loved grandmother, mother, wife, sister, and friend.
She grew up in Superior with her four younger siblings. She was valedictorian of her high school and went on to earn her bachelor of science in geology at UWS Superior. She then ventured west with her two daughters, to attend graduate school in Pocatello, Idaho, at Idaho State University’s Geology Department where she later became the department’s secretary followed by a move to the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School as an administrative assistant.
She later moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her family and was able to retire to concentrate on three of her favorite things: gardening, daughters, and grandsons. She was an active member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene where she met and later married her husband of three years and seven months.
At the time of her death, Carla was under treatment for metastatic breast cancer and looking forward to planting her spring garden and seeing her youngest grandson graduate from high school.
She is survived by her husband Edson Griswold, daughters Jessica Granquist Prka and Malinda Granquist Reynolds, son-in law Tony Prka, sister Barb Defore and brother-in law Ron Defore (Lake Havasu, Ariz.), brothers Tom Noonan and Jerry Noonan (Superior, Wis.), grandsons Jack Prka, Max Reynolds, and Mason Reynolds (Mallory), niece Shay McWain and husband Keven and their daughters Ella and Hannah (Fort Collins, Colo.), and many beloved cousins. Carla was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Germaine, brother Jeff Noonan and nephew Grant Noonan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 20, at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene.
