Beatrice May Doucey, 83

| March 2, 2022 1:00 AM

Beatrice May Doucey, 83, of Coeur d'Alene, peacefully passed away on Feb. 21, after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's. Bea was born on Dec. 7, 1938, to John and Eva Doucey in Yakima, Wash.

Bea graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1957. She had met Robert Harwood while at school and the two were married on Oct. 24, 1958. They went on to have two sons, Thomas and Douglas.

Bea was hired on as a bookkeeper at a local car repair business in the early 1970s. From natural talent she soon became the head mechanic and one of Coeur d’Alene’s top carburetor gurus. The '80s found Bea and Bob in Everett, Wash. — where Bea worked at Boeing as an expediter. In 1996 Bea retired and they moved back home to Idaho.

Bea made sure that any house they were going to buy would have enough room for all of her crafts. Bea had a gift for making quilts, each one hand made with love. Bea was also a longtime member of Avondale Golf Course and became a very good player. Bea also loved fishing both in the local lakes and in Alaska.

Bea was preceded in death recently by Bob on Jan. 17, 2021. Bea is survived by her two sons, her sister Loretta, many in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Bea and Robert both wanted to be cremated and taken back into the earth at a special place of their choosing. We are not having a service for everyone's safety.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit Bea’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at yatesfuneralhomes.com.
