Stanley 'Stan' Thomas Sudol, 78
Stanley “Stan” Thomas Sudol was born Jan. 3, 1943, to Anthony Charles and Dolores Marie (Gatto) Sudol, in Mount Kisco, N.Y. Stan grew up in Carlisle, N.Y., and graduated high school in Cobleskill, N.Y.
In 1961, Stan enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the engine room, which eventually led to his career as a marine engineer. He was extended four months active duty being involved in the Bay of Pigs blockade. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and returned to Longview, Wash.
Stan was united in marriage to Shirley Dianne Cope on June 18, 1971, in Longview. Their union was blessed with two children, Crystal and Thomas, and 49 years of marriage together. The couple made their home in Kalama, Wash.
Stan worked as a marine engineer on sea going ships for various shipping companies. Stan also worked in law enforcement, serving on deputy reserve for 20 years in Cowlitz County, Wash. Stan retired in 1993 and in 2015, moved to Dalton Gardens, Idaho.
Stan died peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Schneidmiller Hospice House, Coeur d’Alene, at the age of 78 years.
Stan loved NASCAR, traveling to Arizona in the winters, gold panning, rock hunting and working. Stan will be remembered as a disciplined, loyal and honorable man with a great sense of humor. He loved his family and enjoyed time spent with them.
Stan is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dianne of Dalton Gardens; two children, Crystal (and Jason) Allen of Hayden, Idaho, and Thomas (and Julie) Sudol of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; five grandchildren: Ivoree, Whitlee, Jordan, Zach and Dominic; a sister, Dolores Dutko of Augusta, Ga.; and other family and friends. Stan is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Dolores, and two brothers, Paul and Tony Sudol.
